A 100% Change in My Life: Jim Perri
A scale of 1 to 10 wasn’t enough to describe the pain that 60-year-old Jim Perri was in when he came to the Spine Institute Northwest. A ruptured disc at L5 and intense sciatic nerve pain had rendered Jim virtually paralyzed: “My life was limited to lying on the living room floor of my house. That’s all I could really do,” he recalls. Jim had to do something to get back his life.
From his first phone call with the Spine Institute Northwest, both Jim and his wife were impressed with the staff’s genuine concern. And, Jim recalls, “As soon as I saw Dr. Kamson I really liked him, right off the bat. On the day of his minimally invasive spine surgery, Jim was in so much pain that he literally had to stop and lie on the floor on his way into the clinic. But after the procedure? “I got up and walked out with no pain. I was beyond amazement for myself,” Jim says.
Now eight weeks out, Jim’s life has totally changed. “Since the surgery, I’m able to sleep in my bed once again,” he says. “I’m able to get up and walk around. I have no pain in my back. I can sit in any of the chairs in my house. I can go outside. From what I was, I’m 100% changed from what I could do before, which was zero.” Best of all, he can enjoy spending time with his family again.
