“I simply do not have the right words to express my thanks and gratitude to you all for the superb care that you gave my Dad this week. I would like to name each person we encountered & tell you a bit about how they contributed to our amazing experience. I will start from the moment we walked into the lobby:
Leanne-You welcomed us with your warm personality and helpful demeanor. I knew right off that you were thoughtful and kind because you offered to bring the paperwork to my Dad and also to return to pick it up once he was done. Now this might seem like a small thing, but to a person who has horrific back pain it was HUGE-it meant my Dad could sit and be comfortable & wouldn’t have to get up and down from the chair more than necessary. You also came and sat with me and checked on to make sure I was ok while waiting for Dad. Most offices don’t have staff that do that-you are special and in doing so you helped put me at ease and just made me feel cared for too.
Dr. Chung-You were also kind and gentle with my Dad trying to make him comfortable as you performed your testing. Also I was so impressed by your academic and systemic approach to testing. You were looking for the facts and helping us put these puzzle pieces together. As I understand it, you made considerable accommodations to be there to do that testing for us-I thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming to Bothell Tuesday even though you were supposed to be at Tacoma because your findings helped discern what the source of my Dad’s pain was. Absolutely essential.
Yelena-you have a heart of gold. You have always been so helpful. You answer my emails almost instantaneously (at all hours too) and provide succinct yet thorough information. After Dad’s injection, you were just as kind and caring at 22 hours post injection as you were at 1 hour post injection-you amazed me. Not even a hint of exhaustion-just pure kindness. I sincerely hope that your pursuit of a career in medicine is fulfilled as you will always be a fabulous practitioner with that kind of attitude & approach to people.
Jim-Although I didn’t personally interact with you much, I understand that if it wasn’t for you, my Dad would not likely have been able to complete his MRI. I wish I could package you up and bring you to Canada so that my patients could finally experience the kind of caring that they deserve when they are undergoing testing that although non-invasive, can be very very scary. In my opinion you too were an essential part of our amazing journey.
Dr. Kamson-You are one of the MOST amazing human beings I have ever had the privilege to meet. From the moment you walked into the exam room you impressed me. You truly focused on Dad with 100% of your attention. What a welcome gift. You took into consideration my Dad as a WHOLE being-not just a 70+ year old man with back pain. HOW REFRESHING

I know you practically moved mountains to get everything done to allow you to make a certain diagnosis and treatment plan for Dad and I will be forever grateful. Your inclusion of my brother Mark via FT was also so helpful and unique-and you did so willingly and with aplomb. During your discussion of the procedure with him, I quickly became aware of how extraordinarily brilliant you are. You are a courageous trailblazer who has spent your every waking moment (and probably many sleeping ones too) thinking of how to perfect your craft. Can’t say as I have ever met any other physician like this.
Over the 36 hours that we (and I mean that as I feel you cared about me just as much as my Dad even though he was the ‘patient’) were there I know you went above and beyond and I thank you and I thank your family for allowing you to spend so much time taking such good care of us. We have been blessed by the work of a higher power as we were led to you and you surely impressed us at every turn. Thank you , thank you, thank you.
Emily-I sincerely appreciated your care of Dad post-injection. As he slept, your easy and kind ways left me feeling secure to allow the overwhelming emotions that I was carrying to spill out in buckets of tears. Thank you. I hope you know how truly precious you will be and as a nurse you will always be amazing if you stay the way you are.
Diane-Being able to speak to you ‘nurse to nurse’ allowed me to understand that Spine Institute Northwest was truly the “real deal” because we could speak in terms that we share from having both worked in critical care. You spoke my language and were so gracious in answering all of my questions. You definitely “sealed the deal” in my mind because I gained the confidence in the whole place by talking to you in a language that we nurses share. I now know in my heart that my Dad would be cared for at Spine Institute of Northwest just as I would care for any one of my patients. That is a HUGE deal for me. So thank you, thank you, thank you for that.
Lastly I want to say that my Dad now has hope again…..and on the plane ride home he talked non-stop about all of the activities he could now see himself doing with my twin boys-camping in the tent, fishing, hunting-and my heart soared. It soared.
Thank you all. You are truly special and your care and concern was much appreciated.”
