After Lorraine Kuzior was injured in a car accident, she found herself falling down on the job — literally. When Lori experienced acute pain she could catch herself, but other times numbness would make it like “the limb wasn’t there.” Eventually she found herself unable to work and feeling “like I was an invalid inside the house.”
Lori wanted relief from her pain, and even more than that, “to get back to where I could at least hold down a job and stand up.” She began exploring her options, and found that with an open back surgery she would be looking at a “7 to 10 days hospital stay” and a lengthy recovery. “This just wasn’t what I was looking for,” Lori says.
A friend told Lori that her mother had had laser spine surgery with good results, so she started researching online. As soon as Lori found the Spine Institute Northwest, her mind was made up. She wound up having a minimally invasive spinal fusion along with regenerative therapy, and was astonished to “be able to leave that night.” Instead of spending a week or more in the hospital, Lori got to leave as if she had just been “going in and getting a tooth procedure, instead of this big spinal surgery. To me it was just fantastic.”
Today Lori is free from pain, and her results from her laser spine surgery have “more than exceeded” her expectations. “It was good to start doing normal things again,” she says. “This is just such a relief to become normal again.” She highly recommends minimally invasive spine surgery as a way to get back to a life that’s free from pain. “Within a couple of weeks… you could be back at your job,” Lori says. “So it doesn’t take your life away, it adds to it.”
