“It’s a New Life, Man!” : Cameron Reyes

Cameron Reyes was quite the athlete in his youth. He wrestled, played defensive tackle on his football team, and enjoyed working out. Well, it seems that the rough and tough play that he enjoyed took its toll, creating severe back pain that he could no longer endure as an adult.

When Cameron received a consultation with Dr. Solomon Kamson at the Spine Institute Northwest, he describes Dr. Kamson as someone that he could enjoy a barbeque with. “I appreciate the type of person that he is… The sympathetic feeling that you get from him…it’s just genuine,” he says.

After years of back pain, Cameron found hope! “When Dr. Kamson told me that he could make me better…that there was that possibility of making me better, I wept like a kid,” Cameron continues.

Cameron’s life was dramatically changed when he received lumbar decompression surgery for his long-term back pain at the Spine Institute Northwest, “I got a fresh start. It’s the closing of a horrible, horrible long chapter in my life,” he sighs with relief. “I’ve had a lot of successes in my life and I consider this procedure one of my successes,” he says.

After exploring many treatment options, Cameron could have chosen an older procedure for his back pain, but the thought of open back surgery with a six-month recovery period wasn’t something that he wanted to endure. Instead, he followed the recommendations of Dr. Kamson, “Here I am, walking around two months later,” he says smiling.

“Everyone’s great here,” Cameron says, and encourages others to talk to Dr. Kamson.
